25-07-10 Grant Haua has been in the live room laying down 10 searing acoustic blues tracks. We were treated to a bit of mouth harp by Mike Baker too, guesting on a couple of tracks. Early listens in the Testing Lounge (where I watch telly in the house) are sounding great - it's just like having Grant perform in your living room!

14-07-10 The Colour Field Recording Studio finishes the second release for Fragile Colours Music, Elizabeth Robinson's 'Light My Heart', an album that is going to listened to here for a long time to come. All in all nine tracks have been recorded, the album goes by the name of one of the tracks, 'Light My Heart'. If early responses from friends and interested musicians are anything to go by, this is going to be one to watch. Songwriter for most of the tracks is Welshman, Jeff Murphy, a gifted songwriter and screen writer (he's got a number of movies on the go). Jeff originally came to the studio do record of couple of his tracks for himself, but after hearing Elizabeth singing on a couple of tracks she'd recorded for a christmas present to friends, he called her up to come and try some the songs on. The rest, as they say, is history. Once we'd recorded 'Price to Pay' and 'Hope', it was obvious that we were onto something special, so Fragile Colours Music have signed Elizabeth and we are looking forward to delivering more quality music in the near future - watch this space!!!

06 and 07 2010 - couple of mastering jobs in the studio - it was nice to have The B Side Band back in to master their latest release, recording out at The Boatshed. It's a good fun record with dose rockabilly thrown in for good measure. It's also been my pleasure to be mastering Jan Preston's new album of Boogie Woogie piano - hat's off to Derek Jacombs who has delivered a great mix and made life much easier for me - this is a great album featuring Jan's piano and a bunch of local Tauranga musicians.

2009 we had the pleasure of recording June Armstrongs debut release, 'He's My Angel', this is a country and western release for a love lady who took up singing after she'd retired - also my first C&W album. This turned out great and was a good record to work on. Lots of local talent again - Mike Kirk on guitars, Shane Rehar on bass, Ian 'Beano' Gilpin on drums - I did a bit on the keys too, working hard on not overplaying!

2008 Various mastering projects have been completed in the last couple of months - look out for the new Kokomo CD, 'In the Well', this is Kokomo's take on their favourite Dylan songs - some great perfomances from local Tauranga musicians.

2008 Also we have just completed mastering a project for 'The B-Side Band', an album of acoustic driven rockabilly style tracks, headed by Simon Elton. Good fun, with some classy blues tinged songs in there.

Awaiting ImageDepth of Field have been working away on a Café style easy Capuccino drinking project that has developed into a very interesting little diversion. We've had Steve Mills in doing a few beats on the studio Yamaha kit, plus soon we'll be adding a few other instruments - Mike Kirk is keen to grace us with some guitar parts, plus I'm looking forward to getting a bit of saxophone on the project, courtesy of Lewis Martin. This should be a great album when it finally sees the light of day...
